Do not scratch your eyes because this is not a dream.

Watford will be seventh in the Barclays Premier League at Christmas and sit just one point off of the Champions League places. What a Christmas present that is.

A few years ago the thought of being in the Premier League, let alone being in the top half of the table, was inconceivable for the vast majority of Watford fans.

It’s a fantastic time to be a Hornet and my over-riding sense of emotion was one of pride as I left Vicarage Road on Sunday.

I’ve seen some great Watford performances during my time as a fan. But I can safely say that the Hornets’ 3-0 win over Liverpool was the best.

Right from the first whistle, the Golden Boys pulverised the Reds.

Once we got our noses in front thanks to Nathan Ake, we never looked back and it is certainly the most complete performance from a Watford side that I have witnessed.

The national media are finally standing up and taking notice of this team who they all predicted would go down with a whimper at the start of the season. Quique Sanchez Flores’ men are proving them all wrong.

Whilst Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo will grab the headlines for another eye-catching performance up front, I feel that some other members of this squad deserve some praise.

I praised Ake in my previous fans view piece, but the on loan Chelsea man was outstanding for the Hornets once again yesterday.

He kept Adam Lallana in his back pocket all game, so much so that the England international had to be substituted mid-way through the second half as he was so ineffective.

Ake put in a number of superb tackles, the best of which came in the first half when he lunged in and won the ball cleanly to prevent a promising attack.

The 20-year-old was also up-and-down the left flank all afternoon. He just gets better every week and is looking every inch a top class player.

Another player who falls into this category is Ben Watson. He was immense.

The midfielder broke up play on a number of occasions and did a superb job of shielding the Hornets’ back four.

A lot of his work goes unnoticed, but the role he plays should not be underestimated.

For me, he was one of the reasons why Watford went on to achieve promotion last season.

Some doubted whether he would be able to make the step-up to the Premier League but he is an increasingly important cog in this well-oiled Watford side.

Quite simply, I could praise every single player in yellow, because they were all absolutely exceptional.

We should all savour the moment because it is some time since we have witnessed performances like the one against Liverpool at Vicarage Road.

And for that, we should thank the Pozzo’s because none of this would be possible without them.

Happy Christmas Watford fans!
