Atalanta have confirmed the signing of Alessandro Diamanti on loan from Watford for the rest of the season.

The 32-year-old moved to Vicarage Road on a season-long loan from Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande in the summer but has been allowed to move back to his native Italy to seek regular football after being limited to just 64 minutes of Premier League action for the Hornets this season.

A statement on the Serie A club's website reads: “Atalanta BC announces the singing of Alessandro Diamanti, who is bound to the Chinese club Guangzhou [Evergrande] on a multi-year contract, from Watford on a temporary basis.

“Diamanti, who will wear the number 23 shirt will arrive at the Bortolotti di Zingonia centre tomorrow, and will be available to coach (Edy) Reja in the afternoon.”

As we reported yesterday, Diamanti is able to join Atalanta as his loan to Watford was deemed a full transfer by FIFA.
