Victor Ibarbo is on the verge of leaving Watford and joining Colombian side Atletico Nacional on loan until the end of the season.

The Colombian winger on loan joined the Hornets on loan from Cagliari in the summer but has made just four Premier League appearances as a substitute, totalling 64 minutes.

Head coach Quique Sanchez Flores recently confirmed the 25-year-old wasn't in his plans and could leave Vicarage Road.

The Spaniard said at the end of last month:Β β€œAt the moment Ibarbo is not in my plan.

β€œWe are always thinking what is best for the player. Ibarbo has quality to play for other teams.

β€œWe don’t think Ibarbo is ready to play for Watford and that is my decision. So we will try and find the best option for him because we want him to be happy.”

Like Alessandro Diamanti yesterday, Ibarbo can be loaned to another club as his loan from Italian side Cagliari is seen as a full transfer byΒ FIFA.

However, FIFA rules alsoΒ stipulate a player can’t play competitive matches for more than two clubs in a single season. Unless a player is transferred between two clubs whose seasons overlap.Β

That meant a move to South America was the only option for Ibarbo as the Columbian campaign begins in February.Β

Ibarbo's lastΒ appearance for the Hornets was a surprise cameo from the substitutes'Β bench duringΒ Watford's 2-0 defeat at Southampton last night. HeΒ played the final 22 minutes.
