Ben Watson described Watford's draw against Everton as a big point after ending their losing run in the Premier League.

The Hornets came into yesterday's game off the back of four consecutive defeats in the league.

But Watford produced a significant improvement on their recent Premier League performances against Stoke City and Arsenal as they earned a 1-1 draw with Everton at Vicarage Road.

Watson said: “Against an excellent team it was a big point for us. On the run we’ve been on it was important we got a reaction from all the players.

"We know last week wasn’t good enough and I felt we got that. It was probably a fair result but it was a good game and we competed and that was the main thing."

The result has taken the Hornets to 38 points this season and within touching distance of securing their Premier League status.

But the focus is on building momentum to take into this month's FA Cup semi-final and Watson believes the Everton game was a step in the right direction.

The midfielder said: “We’ve still got a semi-final to come and we don’t want to be going into the tie on the back of six or seven losses. We want to go there with a bit of form.

"Getting a point today was important. We’re away to West Brom next week and it’s another tough game. But if we can pick up another result then we’ll go into it full of confidence."
