Watford have refused to comment on reports head coach Quique Sanchez Flores will leave the club at the end of the season.

There has been persistent speculation over the last week claiming the Spaniard will lose his job this summer.

It has been suggested owner Gino Pozzo has grown increasingly concerned with the Hornets' poor form during the second half of the season with just three Premier League wins in their last 17 matches.

Watford reached the FA Cup semi-final but their performance at Wembley was a big disappointment and did little to quell the speculation over Flores' future.

The Spaniard requested a break clause in his contract when he joined last summer.

But the Hornets could now use this clause, during the middle of his two-year contract, to part company at the end of this campaign.

Some supporters will see the potential exit of Flores as harsh considering he has kept the team in the top flight following last season's promotion.

But Pozzo is reportedly unhappy with their form since the turn of the year and could be ready to make the seventh appointment since his family bought the club in 2012.

Pozzo decided not to keep Slavisa Jokanovic last summer despite leading them to promotion from the Championship.

Jokanovic was one of four coaches in charge at Vicarage Road last season with Beppe Sannino, Oscar Garcia and Billy McKinlay all departing during the campaign.

When asked about his future after Sunday's defeat to Crystal Palace at Wembley, Flores said: “I don’t understand what happened this week and why you think it’s time to talk about the coach when we were playing the semi-final.

"It’s time to talk about the players, the club and the fans. It’s time to talk about these kinds of things. It’s not time to talk about the manager. I don’t understand that.

“I know what I’ve talked about in my club. It’s what I know but I’m a little bit sad during the week because I didn’t understand why it was necessary to talk about me when Watford are happy. The target is done and people should be completely happy."
