Matt Wallace has made history by achieving a remarkable fourth consecutive victory on the Alps Tour.

The Moor Park golfer has won the Vigevano Open by three shots and become the first player to be victorious in four Alps Tour events in the same season, let alone four in succession.

Following his opening round of 65, the Pinner-based 26-year-old went three shots better yesterday with a 62 to move to the top of the leaderboard overnight with Swiss Julien Clement, who had a day to remember with an incredible 11-under-par 59 at Golf Vigevano.

Wallace immediately put his foot on the accelerator this morning with birdies on the first and second holes to move to 15-under-par. He dropped a shot on the ninth, but recovered that on the 12th and closed out the tournament with an eagle on the 18th to finish with a round of 66 and beat nearest challengers Clement and France's Franck Daux by three shots.

Victories at the Dreamland Pyramids Open in Cairo, the Tunisian Open and Austria’s Gosser Open a fortnight ago had given the 26-year-old, who had not finished outside the top three in his five previous Alps Tour events this year, a lead of more than 14,000 points in the Order of Merit.

Wallace's advantage has now stretched to more than 16,700 points as a result of his latest triumph, with the top five at the end of the year securing a place on the Challenge Tour.
