Abdoulaye Doucoure has hit back at claims from Rennes president René Ruello the Watford midfielder has a knee problem.

The Hornets signed Doucoure on a four-and-a-half year contract from Rennes at the end of the January transfer window.

Doucoure was loaned to Granada for the rest of the season and he will join up with Watford for pre-season training this summer.

Ruello has claimed the midfielder has an ongoing issue with his knee which affects him after playing two games in quick succession.

But the 23-year-old responded to this on social media insisting he has no lingering injury problems.

Doucoure, who made 33 appearances last season for Rennes and Granada, tweeted: "The remarks of Mr Ruello are totally wrong.

“I am fully recovered. I had my two knee injuries which I fully recovered from.

"Saying they sold me because of that, while the club did everything for me to leave this summer for €12 million, is serious.

"I am especially disappointed the lack of recognition of the President Ruello knowing that I have won a lot of money for the club.”
