Walter Mazzarri says he chose to join Watford because the Premier League club are in line with his idea of football.
The Italian has been appointed the Hornets' new head coach on a three-year contract.
Mazzarri does not officially start his job until the start of July but he has been speaking to reporters at the Football Leader event in Amalfi.
“I’d like to thank Watford for seeking me out," Mazzarri said. "This opportunity arose and I chose the project. The club is in line with my idea of football.
"Going to the most important league in the world is fantastic, as I rediscovered motivation and enthusiasm."
His last job at Inter Milan ended in disappointment after he was sacked in November 2014 with the club ninth in Serie A. But the Italian does not look back on his time at Inter negatively.
Mazzarri said: “It was a positive year. Inter? All experiences are positive and I emerge fortified by it. I am not interested in anything else."
He added: “Will I miss Italy? Right now, what I feel inside is the desire to have this adventure.
"Every now and then it’s not bad to break away for a bit. Maybe I’ll return to Italy more motivated."
