World Championship bronze medallist Jenny Meadows is set to go head-to-head with India’s Tinlu Luka, the Asian 800m champion, in a two-lap spectacular at Watford’s Woodside Stadium this evening.

Their showdown is the highlight of the Watford Grand Prix meeting and Meadows arrives in hot form having run an Olympic qualification time in Manchester last time out at the previous British Milers Club meeting.

The Wigan Harrier took the Sportcity event by storm with a great second lap to record a superb 2.01.29 ahead of Alex Bell with 2.02.22 and 2011 World 1500m silver medallist Hannah England, who ran 2.02.97.

Bell will be taking on Meadows again in Watford in the eagerly anticipated next leg of the British Milers Club event.

The women’s 1500m field at Woodside is also strong. It sees Charlene Thomas, who was ranked third in UK last year, face former Word Junior silver medallist Jessica Judd, Australian Commonwealth Games finalist Madeline Hills and Sarah McDonald, who is ranked third in the UK.

The men’s 800m race is also a mouth-watering prospect with Theo Blundell, ranked third in the UK last year, facing Spencer Thomas, who is the top-ranked Under-20 this year.

This evening’s meeting at Woodside is scheduled to start at 5.45pm and admission is £5.
