Watford Grammar School for Boys' bid to reach their fourth Watford Observer Fourteen14 final in five years has been put on hold after their Plate semi-final with Leverstock Green B this evening was postponed.
The Plate holders, and winners in 2012 and 2013, were due to meet Green’s second string at Chipperfield Clarendon’s ground, but the game was called off after the predicted rain arrived and with no forecasted improvement this evening.
The school team convincingly beat Langleybury B by nine wickets in the first round of the Watford Observer’s secondary tournament, while Green – whose A side were triumphant in 2014 and who also won the Plate when they entered one team in 2008 – defeated Watford Town B by 26 runs.
A new date for the semi-final will be advised as soon as possible.
