Leeds United have ended their interest in former Watford defender Joel Ekstrand, the Yorkshire Evening Post reports.
Ekstrand was released by Watford at the end of last season, more than a year after he played his final game for the club after he suffered a cruciate ligament injury in March 2015.
Leeds and Bristol City had both expressed an interest in signing the Swedish international, who spent three years at Vicarage Road and was a popular player with supporters.
But concerns over the 27-year-old's fitness look to have scuppered any move to the Whites, while the Robins are close to completing a move for Icelandic centre-back Hordur Magnusson.
The Yorkshire Evening Post states a pay-as-you-play deal could still be on the table, but the 16 months since his last first-team appearance may scupper any possible contract.
