Watford's move for Inter Milan defender Juan Jesus is off after the 25-year-old sealed a loan move to Roma.

A bid was reportedly lodged for his services by the Hornets last week, to improve the club's options at centre-back, but he has now completed a temporary move to the Italian capital instead.

The 25-year-old was on the fringes of the Inter first-team last season under Roberto Mancini and played only half of the club's league games, and it is reported there is an option in the loan deal which could keep him at the Stadio Olimpico permanently.

In the 3-5-2 formation likely to be adopted by Watford this season under new head coach Walter Mazzarri, the Hornets may find themselves lacking cover at the back; right-back Allan Nyom was shoe-horned into a central position for their visit to Woking on Sunday.
