Watford Ladies' win over Everton two weeks ago gave them the belief to come back and beat Oxford United 3-2.

The visitors were up 2-0 after 20 minutes at the Broadwater stadium with goals from Ella Franklin-Fraiture and Ini-Abasi Umotong.

But Watford reduced the deficit before half-time through Anne-Laure Davy and they secured the three points 10 minutes into the second half as Giulia Ferrandi equalised before Davy’s second gave them the lead.

Ferrandi told the FA WSL website: “We worked hard and stayed together so I am proud of this team because we are growing up step by step, day by day and this is what we have to keep doing.

“The Everton match gave us confidence and in the big 5-0 defeats we treat them just like history and don’t notice those bad games but instead we just work hard and stay together.

“Days like these and Everton are amazing, I just can’t explain.

“The goal before half-time was such a good thing because when the half finishes 2-1 it makes such a difference and the goal made us feel a little bit better for the rest of the game.

“With my goal they stopped and then I came back from the side and they didn’t see me.

“I’m so happy to score.”

The Lady Hornets still sit at the bottom of Women’s Super League 2 but are now on the same number of points as Millwall Lionesses and only behind on goal difference.
