Marseille defender Brice Dja Djedje has agreed a deal to join Watford according to French newspaper L'Équipe.
Reports from France claim the 25-year-old will join Watford on a four-year contract and it is likely to be announced imminently.
Marseille will reportedly receive €3.5m from the Premier League club for Djedje.
The Ivory Coast defender has made 63 appearances for Marseille since joining them from Evian in January 2014.
Right-back Djedje will provide new head coach Walter Mazzarri with more defensive options heading into the season.
Djedje told L'Équipe: "I had other proposals, yes, even a German club, but I preferred to sign for Watford because this is a good club. I will find some former players of Ligue 1 and because it allows me to set foot in the Premier League.”
He added: "I had discussed with the coach (Walter Mazzarri), who also wanted me to sign when he was at Napoli (2009 to 2013).
“I feel with him I can continue to progress. He wants to play his 3-5-2 team, this is a system that suits me well because we played in a slightly similar way with Marcelo (Bielsa).”
His arrival follows the recent signing of full-back Juan Camilo Zuniga on loan.
