Callum Shinkwin will tee off shortly after noon tomorrow bidding for his best finish on the European Tour to date after a third round 67 kept him in contention at the Portugal Masters.

The Moor Park Golf Club professional trails joint-leaders Anders Hansen and Mikko Korhonen by four shots after continuing his move up the Vilamoura leaderboard with a four-under-par round that featured five birdies and only one dropped shot.

A fine finish of five birdies in his last seven holes yesterday saw the 23-year-old lie four off the lead overnight and Shinwkin maintained that progress into today by picking up shots at four, five and seven to turn in a three-under 32.

The Bushey player’s only blemish came at the par four tenth, but that shot was soon redeemed on 12 before he birdied the par five 17th for the third consecutive round to lie in a share of eighth place alongside David Lipsky, Nacho Elvira, Jens Fahbring and Stephen Gallacher.

Shinwkin currently sits 76th in the Race to Dubai rankings and his best result in his full debut season on the European Tour was a tie for eighth at the Scottish Open in July.

Moor Park already have reason to celebrate this weekend after Shinkwin's club-mate Matt Wallace won the Alps Tour Grand Final to finish a distance clear of the Order of Merit standings.
