The chances of Watford winger Steven Berghuis returning early from his loan appear remote after comments from Feyenoord boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
Berghuis is on a season-long loan in the Netherlands but has a recall clause in his contract.
With Watford suffering an injury crisis which has ruled out more than ten players, the opportunity to bring the Dutch international back to Vicarage Road appeared to offer a useful option.
But Berghuis is believed to be happy at Feyenoord and his manager expects to keep him at the club for the rest of the campaign.
Van Bronckhorst told Elf Voetbal: "The player also has something to say for such a decision to be taken. He's here in Marbella and I think he'll just stay with us."
Berghuis claims he has not even thought about an early return to Watford.
The attacker told RTV Rijnmond: "I'm the same as all those people. I have also read, but I have heard nothing further from Watford.
"That is an option, yes [recall]. But it's totally not discussed or mentioned. I have not even thought about it."
