Oxhey Jets were left reeling after they fell to a 3-2 defeat at the hands of league strugglers London Tigers in the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division on Tuesday.

Second-half goals from Luke Wells and Simeon Armstrong were not enough to seal any points for the Jets as their resurgent opponents came out on top.

Berkhamsted ended their league losing streak on Monday after defeating Sun Sports 3-0 away from home as both sides played their final game before Saturday's FA Vase ties.

Ashley Lewis came back to haunt his old team by scoring two in the second half after Steve Hawes had put Berko in front with an early goal.

Hawes won possession ten minutes in and struck a shot from just outside the area. Matt Evans got a hand to the ball but it escaped his grasp and went over the line for the opening goal.

Evans soon made amends for his mistake when he made a great save to keep out a header from Lewis.

Ashton Campbell played in Lewis with a well-worked cross to almost double their lead but the latter could not get onto the end of the ball.

The visitors established clear daylight 10 minutes into the second half when Tom Carter crossed the ball into the penalty box for Lewis to score.

He added his second with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining with Carter once again the provider for his teammate to tap the ball home for the Comrades’ third.

Tasker had to make one good save at the end of the match but Berkhamsted already had the victory secured.

Tring Athletic, who are also involved in the last 32 of the Vase this weekend, triumphed 4-2 over Holmer Green.

It was the second time in 13 days that Tring came out on top against their opponents.

Chris Stapleton opened the scoring after Green should have gone 1-0 up after 10 minutes.

After the first goal, there was little difference between the two sides until Green’s goalkeeper Sam Butcher spilt a George Brinkman free-kick and the ball fell to Stapleton who fired into an open goal for his second.

But Holmer did not give in and in the 25th minute, they pulled one back when Eliot Derby found the net from 25 yards.

But the visitors were to be two goals down again before the interval as Tring added their third through George Carbery in the 40th minute when he calmly slotted the ball into the corner of the net.

Chris Vardy further increased Athletic’s lead when he controlled and turned in one movement before seeing his shot beat Butcher.

Green grabbed a consolation goal with just eight minutes left to play through Curtis Stone after he received a through ball from Greg Deer.

There were celebrations all round for Leverstock Green after they got the new year off to the best possible start by beating leaders London Colney 4-3 at Pancake Lane.

The game got off to an excellent start for Green when Curtis Donaldson opened the scoring in the third minute.

But Colney’s equaliser came on the half-an-hour mark as Archie McClelland found the back of the net, slotting past keeper Mark Berg.

Colney soon made it 2-1 through skipper Greg Shaw but Tremayne Charles volleyed home from six yards to level the scoring once more.

Colney went 3-2 up after Jon Clements headed his side into the lead.

But within a minute, Green were on terms again when Danilson Vicente equalised through a rebound from a Lewis Davis shot.

With the sides level at 3-3 at half-time, the game was set up for a tantalising second half.

But there was to be just the one further goal and it came in the 54th minute for Leverstock.

Donaldson’s corner was met by a header from Bowers but it was Vicente to the rescue once again. He followed up to force the loose ball over the line.

Leverstock remains in ninth position after the win and will hope to continue their good form in Saturday’s game away to Stotfold.
