Watford are close to completing the signing of M'Baye Niang after the AC Milan forward agreed personal terms with the club.

The Hornets confirmed a permanent deal for striker Mauro Zarate this afternoon and are on the verge of sealing their third signing of the transfer window.

Niang's move has developed exceptionally quickly today with Milan keen to offload the attacker.

The French forward, who has scored three goals in 18 appearances this season, has been troubled by off the field problems in Italy which has triggered his departure.

Niang has agreed personal terms with the Hornets and is expected in England tomorrow to finalise the loan deal with an option to buy him for €17m in the summer.

His temperament could prove a challenge for head coach Walter Mazzarri but if he can get the best out of him he will have a talented individual on his hands.

The 22-year-old is renowned for his pace and dribbling ability with his best position on the left-side of the attack.

Watford have moved quickly to beat off competition from a number of other clubs including West Ham and Crystal Palace.
