Watford have missed out on the signing of Tim Krul after AZ Alkmaar confirmed he had moved to the Dutch club on loan for the rest of the season.
Krul has spent the first half of the season on loan at Ajax, but had been eager to secure a move away from the Amsterdam club in search of regular football.
An injury to Costel Pantilimon in Sunday’s 1-0 FA Cup defeat to Millwall has left the Hornets short in the goalkeeping department, prompting Walter Mazzarri to peruse a loan signing of Krul.
The six-time capped keeper was said to have undergone a medical with Watford before the move fell through.
Alkmaar have confirmed Krul's arrival on loan for the rest of the season via Twitter tonight.
