Walter Mazzarri insists he took plenty of positives from Watford's performance after the Hornets were beaten 2-0 at Manchester United.

Watford suffered their first defeat in five Premier League games but the visitors had their moments at Old Trafford.

Head coach Mazzarri said: “We started very well. We moved the ball well during the game and had good possession.

"Of course in the last pass in their area we should have done a bit better. We had a chance with Jose Holebas.

"Of course after they scored for five or ten minutes we lost a little bit of focus especially defensively where we committed some mistakes. But from the rest of the game there were positives."

The Italian added: “All the games give me some indication of the positives and negatives.

"I see also the last two games but today I don’t see only negatives. I see also a lot of positive points."

Mazzarri believes his team could have been better in terms of possession but praised their opponents after Jose Mourinho's side extended their unbeaten league run to 16 matches.

The Hornets boss said: “They are a very good team for sure. We’ve seen it today and also they had great condition as well. But it’s a pity because we started very well.

"The important thing that we have to avoid is to lose too many balls in the midfield. This is what cost us the result today."
