West Herts Men’s Firsts were put to the sword by promotion-chasing Sevenoaks as they lost 6-2 in their National League East Conference clash.

A below-par display left Herts facing a tough task from the outset to take anything from the game and the visitors raced to a 12th minute lead when Tejinder Hanspal scored.

Further strikes from Tom Chandler and George Torry left Stags trailing 3-0 at half-time after a insipid display in the first period.

Andrew Ross, who would go onto bag a hat-trick, scored shortly after the restart to all but seal Herts’ fate.

Will Grbic provided the only real ray of inspiration for the hosts, notching a brace to give Herts some semblance of consolation on a testing day.

The Men’s Seconds also lost by four goals as they were thrashed 4-0 by City of Peterborough in their East Premier B clash.

With three games left to play, the Seconds are just four points clear of the relegation zone.

In contrast, a tricky away clash against Wapping Fourths saw the Thirds come out on top as they claimed a 2-1 win in the East Division 2S thanks to two goals from Luke Frey.

The Fourths were in rampant form in their East Division 4SW meeting with Winchmore Hill Seconds and recorded a thumping 11-1 win.

Jack Bowsher, Ian Gough, Charlie Higgs, Jason Mallory and Myles Mundy all notched doubles as Stags moved back up to third in the table.

The Ladies Firsts kept their hopes of staying in the Investec East Conference alive by booking a place in April’s relegation play-off with a 4-1 win over Northampton Saints.

Saints position at the bottom of the table meant Stags came into the game in confident mood and they were in charge from the start, racing to a three goal lead inside 15-minutes.

Jenny Morris scored the first goal after four minutes, before strikes from Helen Humphrey, Becky Perry and Anna Coppell sealed the win.

The Ladies Seconds were also victorious and claimed a 2-1 win over Hertford in the East Division 2SW.

Laura Payton marked her birthday with an impressive performance as she was named player of the match after scoring both goals.

In the Five Counties Premier, the Thirds eased to a 4-2 win over local rivals St Albans Fourths.

The victory , which came via goals from Tanita Montgomery (2), Liz Harding and Ellie Kendal, ended an extended losing streak for Herts.

The St Albans Boadiceas suffered a similar fate as West Herts Fourths beat them 3-1 thanks to a hat-trick from the prolific Rachel Alridge.
