Sporting success often runs in families and sisters Marli and Remi Jessop provided perfect evidence of just that at the Herts Indoor Athletics Championships.

The talented pair competed in a number of events and both came away with medals after impressive displays, which saw them smash both personal bests and claim County records on their way to securing medals.

Marli was in particularly impressive form and produced a string of outstanding displays across multiple disciplines to be crowned a triple County champion.

The 13-year-old got the ball rolling on a memorable day by finishing top of the pile in the 60m hurdles.

Her time of 9.15 was enough to land a County record and gave her the fourth fastest time in the UK for her age group.

The Joan of Arc School student carried that form into the long jump.

Again the talented teen took gold and again her effort resulted in another County record falling as she out-jumped her competition with a distance of 5.15m.

The 60m sprint followed for Marli and and a personal best time of eight seconds flat saw her complete a hat-trick of wins.

Not wanting to be outdone by her sister, Remi was also on fine form and left the competition with two silver medals to her name.

She began her success with a second-place finish in the Under-21 200m before adding to her haul with another silver in the 60m.

Her success was made all the more impressive considering the 16-year-old, who competes for Dacorum and Tring Athletics Club along with her sister, was up against competitors as much as three years older than her.
