Oxhey Jets won their final home game of the season as they beat Holmer Green 1-0 on Saturday in the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division.

Chris Blunden provided the decisive contribution when he scored the winner from the penalty spot following a handball after half-an-hour.

Jets goalkeeper Rob Partington pulled off some fine saves to keep his side ahead and one in the closing stages even had the opposition dugout on their feet clapping.

The first half was quite even and only the penalty had separated the two sides. More pressure came from the visitors in the second period but Jets managed to hold on.

Bar Hariely cleated one off the line that looked as though it had crossed while Partington saved at least four goal scoring opportunities. Come full-time, it was a welcome victory for the hosts.

Sun Sports fell to a 3-2 loss at the hands of league champions London Colney on Tuesday night.

Kerran Lataillie and an own goal saw Sports get themselves back into the game but it ended up not being enough.

Sports had shared the points in a hard-fought 2-2 draw with Leverstock Green three days previously.

Green managed to extend their unbeaten run to six games and took the lead in the 11th minute when Curtis Donaldson played in Brima Johnson, who drilled the ball across goal for Jonathan Lacey to side-foot home his 29th goal of the season.

Leverstock were unlucky not to double their lead in the 24th minute when Lacey ran in behind the Sun defence to get on the end of a through pass from Lewis Davis. He did everything right as he took the ball past keeper Matt Evans and directed it towards the empty net, but was denied by a superb clearance from former Green defender Damion Cruickshank.

The scores were level nine minutes later as Andrew Brennan chipped a pass through to Karl Penny, who took it down and hit an unstoppable shot past Liam Jahn.

Sun forced a save in the opening minute of the second half but again it was their opponents who looked the more likely to score as the game progressed.

Having been on top, the visitors fell behind in the 65th minute when Jack Johnson netted from the pebnalty spot against one of his former clubs to put his side 2-1 up.

However, their lead lasted less than three minutes as a well-worked move involving Donaldson and Lacey ended with Ross Adams shooting home the equaliser.

Green managed to extend their unbeaten run to seven games with a 1-1 draw in Wednesday night’s fixture at Hadley in which Lacey scored his 30th goal of the season.

A couple of early goals earned Berkhamsted a home-and-away double and the points on Tuesday night as they emerged as the 2-0 victors over Holmer Green.

Alex Campana netted the opening goal in the second minute. Ashton Campbell laid the ball back to him and he placed a shot out of the goalkeeper’s reach at the Railway end.

A fine finish from Campbell for his 19th goal of the season doubled the lead inside the first quarter-of-an-hour and took him to the top of the club’s goalscoring charts.

The visitors changed formation after the break and had more of the ball but their forwards were not able to finish off some promising moves.

A sloppy display had ended the Comrades’ unbeaten run on Saturday after they were defeated 3-0 at the hands of Leighton Town.

A defensive mishap saw Loby Onabolu lob the ball over Carl Tasker to open the scoring midway through the first half.

Onabolu grabbed the second straight after half-time by pouncing on a loose ball before Leighton scored their third with half-an-hour to go.

Tring Athletic remain on course for a top-five finish after they won 2-1 against Crawley Green.

Chris Vardy slotted home his 18th of the season to break the deadlock just before the break.

However, Crawley got the deserved equaliser in the second half when Charlie Clayton poked the ball past Jack Hopwood.

But Ryan Sturges scored Athletic’s winner after some good play between Jack Read,Vardy and Max Hercules to leave them two points clear of sixth-placed Welwyn Garden City with one game to play.
