Adalberto Penaranda missed a crucial penalty as England beat Venezuela 1-0 in the Under-20 World Cup final this afternoon.

The 20-year-old striker had the chance to level the final from the spot after Dominic Calvert-Lewin had given the Three Lions a first-half lead in South Korea.

But England goalkeeper Freddie Woodman saved the youngster's spot-kick, with the miss proving fatal as Paul Simpson's side ran out winners by a single goal.

Penaranda had scored twice on Venezuela's route to the final, including in their quarter-final win over the USA, but had only one clear chance against England with his penalty miss.

The forward, who has never played a game for Watford, has spent the past two seasons on loan at Malaga, Udinese and Granada.
