Watford’s home matchday tribute to legendary boss Graham Taylor has been put back a week and the Hornets will no longer face Aston Villa at Vicarage Road.

The Hornets had been due to host Steve Bruce’s Championship side on Saturday, July 29 in a pre-season friendly in honour of the late manager of both clubs, but Watford have stated an adjustment to the Vicarage Road pitch renovation schedule has led to the game being moved to Villa Park.

Golden Boys fans will now have the chance to honour the man who famously guided the club to the top tier, into Europe and to their sole FA Cup final appearance at the Vic on Saturday, August 5 when Marco Silva’s side will face an as yet to be confirmed opposition for The Graham Taylor Trophy.

Ticket prices and subsidised travel arrangements for the match at Villa Park are still to be confirmed.

Profits from the Graham Taylor Matchday at Vicarage Road will be equally shared between the National Memorial Arboretum and the club’s Community Sports & Education Trust.
