The lure of teaming up with Marco Silva has Benfica winger Andre Carrillo enthusiastic about the prospect of joining Watford.

The 26-year-old has been linked with the Hornets in recent days, but contrary to reports, the club are yet to make any firm offer.

It is understood Benfica made a decision earlier this week they are not actively looking to move him on from the Estadio da Luz, but are willing to entertain offers if any adequate proposal is made.

Carrillo moved from Sporting to Benfica last summer but has since been largely restricted to the bench and made only three starts in the Premiera Liga in 2016/17, scoring twice.

Watford do have an interest in the highly rated Peru international, with reinforcements still required out wide despite the Hornets' good summer of business so far.

Silva has previously raided his former clubs for players and is keen to do the same for the wide-man, who he managed at Sporting three years ago.

Although not reported at the time, he has already tried to bring him to England, submitting an enquiry when in charge of Hull City in January, but it was rebuffed.

After enjoying the most profitable season of his career when the pair worked together in the Portuguese capital in 2014/15, Carrillo considers the 39-year-old one of the biggest influences in his career.

So much so, the Watford Observer understands, that the idea of a reunion in Hertfordshire would be enough to tempt Carrillo should the Hornets turn their interest into a bid.
