Bushey Cricket Club are celebrating a double success after two of their junior sides were crowned county champions.

After a gruelling campaign, both the Under-12 and Under-14 teams came away from their respective finals as winners.

The triumphs represent the high point of a season in which four of Bushey’s young sides reached the final of their county competitions, and also builds on an impressive 2016.

Last season saw the Under-13, Under-15 and Under-17 teams all reach the knockout stages of the competition, but ultimately come up short in their pursuit of glory.

Far from being an overnight success story, the foundations for Bushey’s wins were laid some years ago.

The club started its junior programme in 2010 and has seen its membership grow steadily year on year.

Heavy investment has had a clear impact on results and Bushey have received financial support from Three Rivers District Council, Watford Borough Council and the ECB.

This has allowed Bushey to become Club Mark accredited while dedicated coaches and parent volunteers have helped nurture young talent.
