Northwood enjoyed double success over the week as they picked up wins against Hadley and Met Police.

Saturday saw Northwood take on Hadley and secure a 2-1 win in a keenly-contested clash.

They owed much of their success to the individual talents of Tayshan Hayden-Smith as he bagged a brace to earn the victory.

Simon Lane’s side is fast taking shape for the upcoming season as he looks to embed a number of new signings in his squad.

This unfamiliarity was on show early on in the match though, and it was Hadley who took the lead in the first half.

However, Northwood responded well and Hayden-Smith registered in each half to secure his side a well-earned win at Brickfield Lane.

The brace was the perfect way for Hayden-Smith to introduce himself in a Northwood shirt after signing from Austrian side FC Eurotours Kitzbuhel.

He has previously played for Brentford, QPR, AFC Wimbledon and Hayes & Yeading and Lane is suitably impressed with the midfielder.

He told the Northwood website: “Tayshan has been excellent when playing against my sides in the past, so he was one of my targets during the summer on this massive rebuild.

“Actually securing his services with our resources was another matter. Fortunately, despite interest from other clubs, he is another one who decided to come for football reasons and his own development, which is really pleasing.”

Northwood went on to match the result on Tuesday night as they eased to a 2-1 win against Met Police with two trialists on target.

The result means Northwood still boast a 100 per cent record throughout pre-season and look to be in good form heading into the new campaign.

Kings Langley maintained their unbeaten pre-season record with an entertaining 3-3 draw against Hertford Town on Saturday.

While fitness is always the name of the game in pre-season, Kings will have been slightly disappointed by the result as they twice allowed a lead to slip.

Paul Hobbs’ side took a 2-0 lead into half-time through Mitchell Weiss and Jack Waldren, but were pegged back by two Hertford goals.

Gareth Price looked to have sealed a win with a late strike, only for Town to hit back at the death.

At the time of writing Kings were preparing to take on Oxhey Jets and follow that with a clash against Haringey Borough on Saturday.

It was a positive week for the club’s newly-formed Under-18 side as they won their first ever match 4-0 against Sun Sports Under-18s.
