Oxhey Jets’ unbeaten start to the South Midlands Premier Division season ended dramatically after squandering a 3-0 lead in their 4-3 defeat at home to Hadley.

The Jets have made a promising start to the campaign, winning their first three league games, but this run was halted in a thrilling clash against Hadley on Saturday.

The hosts began the match brightly and were rewarded with the opening goal after six minutes. Rob Byron played the ball into Nick Kerley and he fired them into the lead.

It got even better for the Jets after 32 minutes when Kerley intercepted the ball and hit a superb 35-yard strike into the net.

Oxhey appeared to be in dreamland at the end of the half as they made it 3-0 through Josh Noyes’ finish.

If the first half was close to perfection, the second period was anything but as the visitors mounted a superb comeback.

Shaz Anwar pulled one back for Hadley before an own goal from Jude Bell made it 3-2.

The visitors had all the momentum and their pressure told when they grabbed an unlikely equaliser through Zaine Gangadeen.

Oxhey’s Patr Marius-Cosmin went close from a header but his effort was blocked.

But with nine minutes remaining Hadley grabbed the winner to complete the most unlikely turnaround.

David Martinez curled his shot into the corner of the net to leave the home side stunned.

The Jets were beaten 3-1 at home to Stotfold in the Premier Division Cup on Tuesday night.

A fast start resulted in an early opener for Oxhey as Kerley fired them into the lead.

But this was cancelled out before the break through Charlie Briggs’ equaliser.

In the second half, goals from Marcus Rumble and Reece Stokes sent Oxhey to defeat.
