History was made on Saturday when three Watford FC Girls Academy teams competed in the first league matches in the club’s brief history.
The Under-12s enjoyed their trip to Hearts of Teddlothian in the Capital Girls League and ran out resounding 18-0 victors.
Shakira Kafero-Roberts led the way with five goals, Eve Brown netted a hat-trick, Sarah McDermott, Olivia Brock, Charlotte Forster and Hannah Luxton all scored twice, while there were singles from Hanna Rostek and Amit Goldberg.
The Under-14s also had a victorious league debut as a Chiara Lape treble and a brace from Aulona Xhema brace secured a 5-0 home win over Islington.
Watford Under-16’s had their chances in the first half at Westway and also hit the woodwork twice from free-kicks, but went into the break 2-0 down.
Two more early second-half goals from Westway took its toll on the new Academy team, and they finished the match defeated 6-0.
However, Watford played some good football and showed that the potential is there for a very good future ahead.
