Matt Wallace secured his third top-10 finish in just four months as a European Tour professional after finishing in a tie for ninth at the KLM Open.

The Moor Park Golf Club professional fired a four-under-par final round of 67 to finish on 12-under for the tournament, three shots behind winner Romain Wattel.

The 27-year-old had been in contention throughout at The Dutch after shooting 68 in both his first and second rounds, the latter having to be completed over two days due to the knock-on effects of play being suspended on Thursday due to bad weather.

The Open de Portugal champion, who finished in a share of sixth at last month’s Made in Denmark, stepped up his challenge in Saturday’s third round after playing the first seven holes in three-under-par.

A fourth birdie followed at the par three 14th, but a bogey-bogey finish meant the Pinner-based professional started yesterday’s final 18 holes six shots adrift of overnight leader Kiradech Aphibarnrat.

Birdies on the par four second and par five sixth moved last year’s six-time Alps Tour winner up to 10-under, only for both those shots to go at the ninth where he made a double-bogey six.

However, Wallace responded well to that setback with a birdie at the par four 12th, an eagle at the par five 15th and another birdie at the par three 16th to ensure he finished the event in strong fashion.

The result has moved the Moor Park player up to 127th in the Race to Dubai standings
