Premier Division

It was goals all the way as 33 were scored in the top flight, 11 alone in the game between West Herts and Oakview, with the champions securing a 7-4 win over their hosts who are still looking for a first victory since their return to the Premier Division.

Oakview started the stronger and had built up a three-goal lead in the first half-an-hour.

Simeon Armstrong headed home from a corner after ten minutes, Adam Lowton did the same in a virtual repeat of the first goal minutes later, before Luke Beardsworth made it three with a well-taken shot into the corner of the net from the edge of the box.

Jeremy Audic pulled a goal back on the stroke of half-time, but within a minute of the restart Beardsworth scored his second with a right-foot volley from 20 yards out.

That looked to have put the game beyond the Stags, but with nothing to lose the hosts pushed forward and struck three times in ten minutes thanks to Sam Saleh, Audic’s second and another one from Sunnie Ighorae to remarkably pull his side level.

But such an effort probably took something out of West Herts as their opponents showed why they are champions by scoring three times in the final ten minutes; Lewis Putman netting twice and another from Beardsworth to complete his hat-trick.

Above the champions in the table are second-placed St Josephs following their 3-1 win over Rickmansworth Town.

Goals from Alex Ward and Jack Brown gave St Josephs a 2-0 lead, before Terry Gibson pulled one back. But Lawrence Olorunfemi sealed the win five minutes from time.

Leaders Fox & Hounds made it four wins out of four after a 4-1 home victory over Old Danes Athletic.

The home side dominated the first half, with Josh Noyes striking the crossbar and Bradley Thompson going close on a couple of occasions. And it was Thompson who made the breakthrough after 25 minutes when a shot from outside the area took a big deflection, giving the keeper no chance.

Old Danes responded well and levelled before half-time when Ross Bennett tapped in from close range.

Alex Witham scored a well-taken goal from the edge of the area to restore Fox’s lead early in the second half before adding his second with a finish low into the corner.

Witham was to complete his second hat-trick of the season when Luke Hatherell’s run and pass found him unmarked on the edge of the area to leave his team at the summit of the table.

After a slow start to the campaign, Reed Rangers are starting to find the form that has made them runners-up in the last two seasons with a second straight league win. Again it was another high scoring affair as they edged past Chorleywood Club 5-4.

Nathan Singh headed Reed in front, before John Smith doubled the lead with a free-kick from 25 yards. But the home side fought back to take a 3-2 advantage into the break; Owen Wartnerby scoring the first after 29 minutes, Robbie Martin equalising four minutes later and then three minutes before the break Wartnerby struck again.

That advantage didn’t last long into the second half as Joe Molineux levelled, Miley Cash put Reed back in front and then Molineux scored his second and Rangers' fifth.

James Edwards scored five minutes from time, but despite some heavy pressure Chorleywood could not come back for a second time.

The repeat of May’s Eric Challenge Cup Final between Rifle Volunteer and Old Fullerians saw Rifle drop points and their opponents gain one for the first time this season after a 2-2 draw.

Nick Kerley put Rifle ahead in the first half with a curled free-kick, but the visitors soon levelled after the break as Charlie Hailey netted with a well-taken shot after letting the ball run across his path.

It was Rifle who struck next, with Ron Blagden scoring after Andy Lomas and Gary Froy combined down the wing. But that goal was not enough to win all three points as deep into added-on time, Hailey scored his second with a header from a corner.

Division One

Compasses North are setting the pace at the top of the table as they made it five wins from five with a 3-0 victory over Bushey Sports Club, who have now lost two on the spin after winning their first three games of the season.

Sam Hakner’s brace and one from Mark O'Connor sealed the win.

Directly behind Compasses in the table are Evergreen, albeit five points adrift, after a 3-0 win over FC Unicorn.

Evergreen went ahead thanks to a long-range own goal, before Kyle Rimmer set up Tom Verbena to slot home.

Verbena scored his second and Evergreen’s third in the second half after good work from Ben Adams.

North Watford and RD shared the points in a 2-2 draw, with all the goals coming in the second half.

Jake Levy finally broke the deadlock for RD, but after waiting well into the second period for a goal, a second followed within a minute as North Watford drew level through a Aamer Khan penalty.

Levy then put RD ahead for a second time, but it was not enough to win the game when with the last kick of the game, Dion Belle scored a well-taken free-kick.

Division Two

Like Compasses North in the division above them, Tudor Athletic made it five wins out five, but they had to do it the hard way after coming back from 3-1 down to beat Rickmansworth Athletic 5-3.

Sam Clarke gave Tudor the lead, but Rickmansworth hit back to score three times through Alex Ungreanu, Scott Reeves and Nwefo Kingsley.

Inspired by a man-of-the-match performance from Grant Mavis, Tudor responded four times, twice though Clarke to complete his hat-trick, one from a Chris McIntyre header, before Dave Herbert lobbed in the fifth.

The two sides directly below Tudor in the table both won.

FC Woodside are in third after a straightforward 3-0 win over Oxhey Rangers - Joe McCarthy, Louis Bamgboye and Joe Fox with the goals - whilst Ardent are a position higher after edging out Ripstone 5-4.

Two-goal Jon Shafe and one each for Joe Hardie and Matt Elgey registered for the home side, but Ardent claimed the three points with Charlie Salvage’s brace and singles from Andrew Humbles, Lee Spence and Nick Busfield-Birch.

Division Three

P&P Social continue to set the pace with a fourth win on the trot, this time over Revolution, thanks to a Billy Lobjoit double, one from Louie Lobjoit and an own goal.

Second-placed Bushey Rangers were held 2-2 by AC Little Silhouette of Milan; Scott Monaghan and Chris Sharpe on target for AC and Jack Barr and Ellis Brown for Bushey.

The Tree are in a third place following a 4-1 win over Sun Regent Sports.

Chris Morris struck twice for the victors, who also had Glenn O'Malley and Marc Brownsell on target, while Dean Ward replied.

Hertfordshire Lions and Hertsmere drew 1-1; Lions’ Andrew Ryder and Brandon Green with the goals.

Division Four

NW FC claimed their first ever league win after beating Sun Postal Sports 5-3.

Sun went ahead through Chris Melsome but their opponents took a 3-1 lead into the break as Hamid Ali equalised, before Talha Chohan scored twice.

Sports then scored twice in the first 15 minutes of the second half through Cameron Glass and Lewis Gordon. But NW sealed the win thanks to a penalty from Kamran Arshad and one on the break from Federico Jaramillo after the home side were caught out pushing forward for an equaliser.

South Oxhey got the better of Railway Arms 4-2 in the big game at the top of the table.

Jamie Moran, Will Wilson, Bradley Bridges and Harley Mead scored for Oxhey, with James Hessey and Jack Merrix replying.

A George Mole hat-trick helped Oxhey Athletic easily defeat Garston Athletic 6-1.

Sidney Burton, Charlie Cole and Richard McCrosson also registered for the victors, with Luke Everitt netting the Garston consolation.

Eric Challenge Cup Round One

The two outstanding games from the first round saw two First Division sides beat Second Division opposition.

Cassiobury Rangers defeated Woodlands United 3-0 thanks to Jack Henley, Callum Galvin and Joe Mortimer.

Langleybury CC saw off Bedmond 8-2, although after building an early 3-0 lead, Liam Hanley’s two goals did bring the visitors briefly back into the tie.

But they were out-gunned by Matt Honey’s double, with Josh Spinks, Dan Bryon, Nathan Pooley, Connor Sills, Greg Cook and Richard Trafford also finding the net.

Junior Cup Round One, Second Legs

There were no comebacks in the two second leg ties.

Holding a 4-0 lead over Chess United, AFC Batchworth added another five to their aggregate score through Craig Mathieson (2), Korby Bryan, Jordan Banbury and Harry Panayioyou with the other three.

Everett Rovers added three more to their overall tally against Batchworth, completing an 11-0 win thanks to Alex Gilbert’s brace and one from Barry Mitchell.
