Watford have been hit with a £25,000 fine for failing to control their players during an injury-time brawl at the end of their defeat to Stoke City last week.

The Hornets players, and their Stoke counterparts, piled in when Troy Deeney and Joe Allen came to blows over what the latter considered unsporting conduct at a throw-in.

Players from both sides got involved and the two clubs were hit with an FA charge last Tuesday, which has been settled this afternoon - but means Stoke will pay £5,000 less for their part in the trouble.

Stoke had put the ball out of play following an injury to Erik Pieters, but following his sudden recovery Deeney played on rather than returning the ball to the Potters. He has since been banned for three games for raising his hands to Allen's face when confronted by the Welshman.
