Callum Shinkwin ended the European Tour season 40th in the Race to Dubai after finishing in a share of 25th place at the DP World Tour Championship.
The Bushey golfer had moved himself into contention for a high finish in Dubai after shooting a six-under-par third round of 66 to move to nine-under for the tournament, but he had to settle for a level-par final 18 holes as his maiden appearance at the European Tour finale ended 10 shots behind winner Jon Rahm.
Having started with a birdie three at the first, the 24-year-old moved to 11-under with a four at the par five seventh. Although the Moor Park Golf Club professional dropped a shot at the par four ninth, he retrieved that with a birdie four at 14, only to make a double bogey six at 16.
The result was Shinkwin’s sixth top-30 finish of the season, five of which have come in the premier Rolex Series tournaments including his best career result to date at the Scottish Open where he finished runner-up following a play-off.
