A three-under-par final round of 69 ensured Matt Wallace made it three finishes in the 30s this year after ending the Dubai Desert Classic in a tie for 37th place.
Having finished in a tie for 38th at the BMW SA Open and a share of 32nd at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, the Moor Park Golf professional has moved up to 52nd in the Race to Dubai standings after ending on 11-under-par at Emirates Golf Club.
Saturday’s one-over-par 73 had effectively ended hopes of a high finish after rounds of 69 and 66, but Wallace moved back up the leaderboard after a better final 18 holes.
Birdies on the par four sixth and ninth holes saw the Pinner-based player go out in 33 – his best score on the front nine of the week – before he picked up a third birdie of the day at the par three 1th.
Wallace’s sole bogey of the final round came at the par five 13th, but a birdie four at 18 ensured he finished the tournament positively, 12th shots adrift of winner Haotong Li.
