Moor Park professionals Matt Wallace and Callum Shinkwin finished down the field after the final round of the NBO Oman Open.

Wallace ended in a tie for 44th place on one-under-par in Muscat, while Shinkwin was three shots further back in a share of 56th on two-over.

A disappointing three-over-par third round 75 had seen Pinner-based Wallace start the final 18 holes on level par for the tournament.

The 27-year-old was to remain on even-par when he reached the turn after a birdie three at the fourth had been cancelled out by a four at the par three fifth.

It looked like Wallace’s round was taking a turn for the better when he birdied the par five 12th and par three 15th, only for a six and five at holes 16 and 17 to drop him back to level. However, a birdie three at the last ensured he finished the tournament in a positive fashion.

Moor Park club-mate Shinkwin had been among the early pace-setters after a five-under-par 67 on Thursday, but rounds of 74 and 73 had seen him drop back.

The Bushey professional started his final round with an early birdie at the par five third, but that was as good as his day got as bogey fives at the sixth and ninth holes saw him go out in a one-over-par 37.

The 24-year-old’s fortunes did not improve on the back nine, with back-to-back bogeys at the par three 11th and par five 12th holes before he dropped another shot with a five on 17 to finish with a four-over round of 76.

Dutchman Joost Luiten won the tournament on 16-under, two shots clear of Chris Wood.
