Gylfi Sigurdsson say Everton will be out to improve their away form when they take on Watford at Vicarage Road.

The Hornets will be keen to get the better of the visitors when the side’s meet on Saturday evening as they look to pick up three points for their survival bid.

Their opponents sit four points and two league positions above 11th-placed Watford ahead of their meeting, but have won just once on the road in the league all season.

Everton’s away form, which is the fourth worst in the top flight, may be poor, but Sigurdsson believes points away from Goodison Park will be vital for the remainder of the season.

“We need to really push on,” he told the Everton website. “The next five games are crucial for us – they are very important.

“We need to improve our away form, and if we can start picking up points away from home, hopefully we can have a good end to the season.”

Watford’s home record is among the Premier League’s worse, with only four of their games at the Vic yielding three points this season.

They will come up against a Toffees side which has spent time at a warm-weather training camp in Dubai in lieu of an FA Cup clash this weekend.

Sigurdsson says the time away has rejuvenated the Everton squad ahead of a game which could see Watford move to within a point of the drop zone should they lose.

He said: “It has been refreshing to get away and do a bit of training in the sunshine. It’s been tough but it has benefitted us.”
