An era of broadcasting will come to an end on Sunday when John Motson delivers his final live commentary for the BBC for Watford’s trip to Arsenal.

Although the 72-year-old will continue to appear on Match of the Day until May, his commentary for Radio 5 live from the Emirates Stadium will be his last live for the BBC, 48 years after his first live radio broadcast.

Motson, whose first radio commentary was Everton v Derby County in December 1969 and has since covered 10 World Cups and 10 European Championships, announced last year he would end his career at the BBC at the end of the season.

"I've absolutely loved my time commentating for BBC Sport," he said in September.

"I've been fortunate enough to witness some of the biggest moments in football history mere yards away from the action, so I've really been very lucky."

Sunday's match kicks off at 1.30pm.
