Alex Jakubiak returned to scoring ways for Falkirk to round off a memorable personal week in style.

Having been named the Bairns’ Player of the Month for February after scoring five goals, the forward found the net in a 3-1 win over Morton on Saturday.

Jakubiak’s strike, which saw him control a high ball smartly and fire in via the post, made it 3-0 to all but seal the points for the Scottish Championship side.

It was also a productive weekend for Costel Pantilimon. The keeper had to be at his best to keep Debry County at bay and secure a 0-0 draw for Nottingham Forest against their local rivals.

An impressive double stop from first David Nugent and then Tom Lawrecne was the pick of Pantilimon’s highlights as Forest made it six games unbeaten.

Fellow stopper Pontus Dahlberg couldn’t prevent IFK Gothenburg going out of the Swedish Cup at the quarter-final stage as they went down to a 1-0 loss to Malmo.

In la Liga, Nordin Amrabat’s Leganes were beaten 2-0 by Athletic Bilbao despite the Watford winger going close with a shot which was well-saved.

While Amrabat has been a regular starter in Spain this season, Isaac Success has struggled to make an impression since joining Malaga in January.

The forward was introduced with 12 minutes to play against Barcelona, but couldn’t turn the tide as Barca eased to a 2-0 win.

Mauro Zarate played all but 11 minutes for Velez Sarsfield’s 2-2 draw against Rosario Central, while Brice Dja Djedej completed the full 90 minutes in RC Lens’ 1-0 defeat to Bourg-en-Bresse in Ligue 2.

Elsewhere, Obbi Oulare came from the bench with an hour played as Royal Antwerp lost 2-1 to RSC Anderlecht, despite Leander Dendoncker seeing read for Anderlecht.

Conor Stevens featured for 80 minutes of Oxford City’s 1-0 loss to Havant & Waterlooville, while Harvey Bradbury was a substitute in St Albans City’s 3-1 loss to Hungerford Town.

Michael Folivi was an unused sub for Boreham Wood on Saturday, but will be hopeful of playing when Maidenhead United visit Meadow Park tonight.
