Watford have announced plans to bring a new singing Stand to the Rookery End at Vicarage Road from the start of the 2018/19 season.

The change is one of a number being put in place as part of the club’s season ticket renewal policy for next season and is aimed at creating a better atmosphere at the Vic.

Supporters who already sit in the Rookery End will not have to relocate as a result of the changes, but Watford are eager to stress the singing stand will provide a different atmosphere to what some may be used to.

“From 2018/19 onwards, the push to maximise the colourful and vocal support for the team continues with the designation of the whole Rookery Stand as the one which gives a lead to the rest of the ground in terms of singing and atmosphere generation,” a statement read.

“We are fully supportive of the players and coaching staff, who continue to reference the importance of a positive and vibrant atmosphere at our home games.

“There is no requirement for mandatory relocation as a result of this notice, however, supporters sitting in the Rookery should be aware that there are likely to be significantly longer periods of standing and singing than in other stands.

“Season ticket holders who wish to consider relocating as a result of this designation will be able to call through to speak with the ticket office during the general seat movement window in early-mid June.

“There would be no additional charge applicable in 2018/19 for any supporters wishing to relocate to a higher-priced stand.”

The introduction of the singing stand is the main development being made ahead of next season, but there will also be changes elsewhere.

Once again, accessibility improvements in the Lower Graham Taylor Stand will result in some season ticket holders being made to relocate.

Those in blocks LGT3 and LGT4 will be impacted by the renovations and will be contacted directly by the club to discuss developments.

Watford are eager to encourage more family groups to visit the Vic on matchday and have, therefore, capped season tickets in the Family Stand to 1,750.

This measure will ensure 500 seats will be available for match-to-match sale.

Tickets will be reduced to £30 for adults and £5 for under-18s and a dedicated Family Stand ticket hotline will be in place from the start of next season.

Family Stand season tickets will be renewed online this year, but the club may get in contact with season ticket holders who have used their seats infrequently to discuss if they wish to retain their ticket.

Accessible areas for both wheelchair and ambulant/easy access seating around the ground can be renewed online.

Watford club liaison and disability access officer Dave Messenger can be contacted directly should supporters wish to discuss their renewal in person.
