Callum Shinkwin’s sights set will be set on a high finish at least when he gets his final round at Trophee Hassan II under way this morning.

The Bushey golfer starts the last 18 holes in Morocco in a tie for 17th place on two-under par, five shots behind leader Alvaro Quiros.

Following an opening round of 70, the Moor Park professional shot a second consecutive level-par 72 to remain in contention and be one of only 21 players to be under par for the tournament at the tough-scoring Royal Golf Dar Es Salam course.

Shinkwin played par golf until he bogeyed the par four sixth hole for the third successive round, but he instantly retrieved that shot with a three at the seventh.

The 24-year-old dropped back to one-under with a bogey four at nine, but he was once again quickly back to minus-two with a three at the 10th.

A third bogey of the day came with a five at 13 and he remained at one-under until he reached the 18th when he finished his third round on a high with a birdie four.

Quiros holds a one-shot lead over four players - Erik van Rooyen, Alexander Levy, Mikko Ilonen and Christian Bezuidenhout.
