April 25 is a date which lives long in the memory of anyone with a Watford connection.

It’s three years to the day since Watford sealed promotion to the Premier League with a 2-0 victory against Brighton.

On a balmy afternoon on the south coast, which ended with many fans celebrating with a dip in the sea, goals from Troy Deeney and Matej Vydra left the Hornets on the brink of ascension to the Premier League.

The Golden Boys still needed Norwich to draw at Rotherham and Middlesbrough to suffer a last-gasp loss to Fulham to be assured of promotion, but by the end of the day they were a top flight side for the first time since 2007.

Deeney opened the scoring just before the half-hour mark and the famous victory was finally secured when Vydra netted deep into second half stoppage time.

Since then the Hornets have gone on to establish themselves as a Premier League side and are all but certain of a fourth year in England’s top tier next season.

There have been some heady days in the Premier League, but few will match the sheer delirium of the one enjoyed against Brighton in 2015.

Why not take a trip down memory lane by watching highlights of the famous win against the Seagulls.
