Abdoulaye Doucoure was selected as the stand out performer of Watford’s Premier League campaign last night when he won the Graham Taylor Player of the Season.

The midfielder, who has started all but one of the Hornets’ top-flight games and is top scorer with seven goals, received the top prize at the club’s end of season awards night at Wembley Stadium.

It also saw him complete the double having received the Players’ Player accolade following last week’s 2-1 victory over Newcastle United in the final home game of the season.

Richarlison celebrated his 21st birthday by being named Young Player of the Season, while Daryl Janmaat’s fine solo effort in the 4-1 victory over Chelsea was named Goal of the Season.

Heurelho Gomes won the Individual Performance of the Season for the superb saves he made in the 2-0 home win against West Ham United, and Barry Freedman was named Supporter of the Season.

Perhaps the warmest ovation of the night came at the beginning of the ceremony though, when a former Watford player who became responsible for a conveyor belt of talent at Vicarage Road, Tom Walley, became the latest inductee into the club’s Hall of Fame.

Robert Page and Kenny Jackett both spoke affectionately of the esteem in which they hold the former youth coach and they were joined by Nigel Gibbs, Richard Johnson, Gary Porter, Neil Price, Iwan Roberts and Tim Sherwood to welcome Walley on to stage to receive his honour.
