A deal has been agreed for Gerard Deulofeu to join Watford on a permanent basis, according to reports in Spain.

Sport is reporting the 24-year-old has been "sold" for a fee of €13 million and his return to Vicarage Road is "most likely" to be announced before the start of the World Cup.

The Hornets have been working on a permanent move for the Spanish international, who suffered an injury-affected loan spell during the second half of last season but impressed sufficiently for Javi Gracia to say he wanted to add the player to his squad.

Deulofeu, who has a year remaining on his contract with Catalan giants, has accepted he has no future at the Camp Nou and said in May: “I have enjoyed it here (at Watford). I have said before that in the summer I will leave Barcelona.

“I do not know which team I will go to, so let’s see what happens. I have to rest and decide but of course Watford is one option.”

Sport claim Barca initially wanted €20m for the player, while Watford were hoping to secure him for around €10m, but both clubs are said to have agreed on deal which could see the Hornets part with up to an additional €2m in add-ons.
