Watford are close to agreeing a deal to sell Richarlison to Everton in a deal that would represent a huge profit for the Hornets.

The Mail is reporting this evening the move could be worth up to £50 million for the Hornets for a player who moved to Vicarage Road last summer for £11.5m from Fluminense.

The Watford Observer understands this is broadly accurate and we have been told a deal is close to being agreed.

Goodison Park boss Marco Silva is a big admirer of Richarlison, but relations between the two clubs have been strained after Everton first made a move for the former Hornets head coach last season and it culminated in an official complaint being lodged with the Premier League for making an alleged illegal approach.

However, the Watford hierarchy appear to have used this to strike a deal for the player that is to their best possible advantage, if it is completed.

Richarlison made a whirlwind start to his Hornets career, scoring five goals in his first dozen Premier League appearances as he impressed with his pace and direct, attacking style.

The last of those goals came in a the 2-0 home win over West Ham United on November 19 though, and he was not to find the net again in the 2017/18 campaign.

We understand Fluminense have a 10 per cent sell on clause on any profit Watford make from the player's transfer.
