Alex Jakubiak has today sealed a temporary switch away from Watford after the striker joined Bristol Rovers on a season-long loan deal.

The 21-year-old has struggled to force his way into the Hornets’ plans in recent times, but was given minutes by boss Javi Gracia during the club’s pre-season campaign.

Having made his solitary league appearance for Watford in the final game of the 2013/14 season, starting the Golden Boys’ 4-1 defeat to Huddersfield Town, Jakubiak has since found his chances of breaking into the first team restricted following promotion to the Premier League three years ago.

He has spent extended time out on loan at Braintree Town, Oxford United, Dagenham & Redbridge, Fleetwood Town, Wycombe Wanderers and Falkirk over the last few seasons, scoring a combined total of 14 times.

He will now team up with Darrell Clarke’s Pirates in League One and is one of two deadline day acquisitions for Rovers after they signed fellow striker Stefan Payne from Shrewsbury Town.
