Watford Ladies secured their third pre-season win on the spin as they eased to a 4-1 win over Enfield Town yesterday.

The Golden Girls were on top throughout a clash which saw summer singing Roschelle Shakes grab a hat-trick to add to Emily Hill’s effort from the penalty spot.

Watford look to be in good shape heading into their campaign opener against Cardiff City Ladies on Sunday.

They started the clash with Enfield in flying fashion and were almost ahead when Kayleigh Currivan prodded wide from Leanne Bell’s cross.

Kat Huggins then saw a free-kick cannon back off the post after a wicked deflection and a Watford trialist was also denied by the woodwork on the half-hour.

Watford continued to push for a go ahead goal, but their frustrations would continue until just after the hour mark.

Shakes got the ball rolling in the 63rd minutes as she turned smartly in the box and calmly converted to give her side a lead their overall dominance was well deserving of.

The goal opened the floodgates and Watford would score twice more in the space of the next four minutes to all but kill the game as a contest.

Their second came when Hill calmly finished from the spot after Andie Dickens had been brought down in the box.

Shakes then added her second of the afternoon with a well-taken finish from a driven cross before Enfield hit back with a goal of their own soon after.

Shakes put the finishing touches on the match with the game’s final meaningful attack when she rifled home a fierce finish to complete here treble.
