Watford have been drawn away to Reading in the second round of the Carabo Cup.
The Hornets were in the south section of the draw and will make the trip to the Royals, who got through the first round with a 2-0 home victory over Championship rivals Birmingham City on Tuesday night.
That win was the first this season for Paul Clement's side, who have endured a disappointing start to their new league campaign, losing their opening two games and are bottom of the embryonic table.
The tie, which will see the Hornets line up against club legend and Clement's assistant Nigel Gibbs, is due to be played in the week commencing August 27.
