Javi Gracia believes deadline day signing Domingos Quina has ‘a great future’ and says he could feature in Watford’s match-day squad over the course of the campaign.

Quina joined the Hornets from West Ham on deadline day, penning a four-year contract at Vicarage Road, having reportedly attracted interest from La Liga giants Barcelona after impressing for Portugal at the European under-19 Championships over the summer.

The 18-year-old attacking midfielder joined the Hammers’ youth team set-up from Chelsea in 2016 and was a regular for the club’s under-23s.

However, he struggled to break into the Irons’ first team during his time at the London Stadium making just six appearances, all of which coming in cup competitions.

The Golden Boys are well stocked for midfield options with the likes of Abdoulaye Doucoure, Etienne Capoue, Will Hughes and Roberto Pereyra all on the club’s books, but Gracia hinted that Quina could feature in the Hornets’ match-day squad during the campaign.

Asked about Quina, Gracia said: “He’s been with us since Sunday. He’s training with the team. He’s a young player but I believe he’s got a great future. He’s not only got a good future but we will try and see if he can help us in this moment. But I think he’s a very good player.”
