EVEN the surprise appearance of Essex and former England left-armer Mark Ilott failed to bring Langleybury victory away at Stevenage in the Home Counties Premier League Division Two East on Saturday, May 18.
Ilott, who won five Test caps for England, was playing for the Hunton Bridge outfit in an attempt to regain his match fitness after recovering from a ankle injury.
The 31-year-old, who made his England debut against Australia in 1993, claimed 4-18 in 17 overs as Stevenage were bowled out for 91.
In reply, Langleybury produced a woeful batting display with only captain Nigel Ilott (40) showing any application as they were skittled out, by a Murty Hussain (7-18) inspired Stevenage side, for just 70.
Elsewhere in the division, a rapid 78 from Mike Dale helped Hemel Hempstead to a 56-run win over Chorleywood, while West Herts claimed a draw in their match at home to defending champions Hertford.
